Prober Privacy Policy

Prober is a Chrome extension that helps users download Blackboard Collaborate recordings and toggle Picture-in-Picture (PiP) on playback pages.

Data the extension processes

• Recording title, recording URL, and download status, stored in chrome.storage.local to populate the downloads list.
• PiP toggle state, stored in chrome.storage.local.
• The active tab URL, used to determine whether the extension should enable features on a Blackboard Collaborate playback page.

How data is used

All data is used only to provide the extension’s features. Data is stored locally in the browser and is not transmitted to any server.

Data sharing

No data is sold, shared, or transmitted to third parties.

Permissions rationale

• tabs: read the active tab URL to decide when features apply.
• downloads: save the recording file to the user’s device.
• storage: store the downloads list and PiP state locally.
• scripting: inject the content script on eligible playback pages.

Data retention

Data remains in local browser storage until it is removed by the user or by the extension’s daily cleanup routine.

Children

The extension is not intended for use by children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
